Past Work Life

J* is an eclectic mix of versatility and diversity, with a dynamic whimsically fun yet grounded personality power packed into a petite frame. Voted as one of FHM's top 100 sexiest women, J* is proof that good things do come in small packages.

Besides being a talented ACTRESS, experienced HOST, as well as commercial MODEL, J* adds fashion|beauty|travel|lifestyle WRITER, CONTENT CREATOR and hobbies of photography, art, jewelry and interior design to her multi-faceted repertoire of creative skills. Whatever role she takes on, she puts her heart and soul into it.

J* was offered the lead female role Pamela Chan in her stage debut 'Threesome' (a tribute to the movie 'Chasing Amy' by Kevin Smith) directed by Lionel Chok . It was then she was bitten by the acting bug. After taking an acting course at NYU Tisch School of Arts, J* then went on to appear on Asian Television Awards winner 'REM The Next Generation Season 2' as the female villain Bonnie in episode ten. Followed by more lead roles in an international short film 'Wild Card' and another play 'Kiss'.

The embodiment of fun and spontaneity, J*'s natural style and intelligence shines through in all her magazine features including Clam Magazine, Her World, CLEO, Female, NÜYOU, T3, and an 8-page feature for FHM Singapore and Thailand.

J*’s commercial mass appeal, exotic Peranakan looks and distinctive features led to her being chosen for various regional and local TV, radio commercials plus print ads such as McDonald’s, Coca Cola, H.B.O. Asia.

From there, opportunities as a host/presenter opened up. Her live hosting expertise includes events for clients like Lancome during the Singapore Fashion Festival, Shanghai Tang, Loewe and Maurice Lacroix, amongst many others. She has presented in both English and Mandarin for music festival Pop Agenda, as well as the Singapore Chingay "Asia's grandest street and floats parade".

Her passion for music motivated J* to produce her own web show 'jbabytwinkleSTAR' where she presented using her nickname J-STAR. Establishing fast rapport with the celebrities interviewed was key to her great on-screen chemistry with international rockstars such as pop punk band Cobra Starship and 2007’s “Best New Artiste” Gym Class Heroes, and many more.

Outside of work, J* believes in doing what she can to help others. She hosted charitable events such as 'Project Relief' in aid of Tsunami victims, the Red Cross 10th Anniversary to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism, and even walked barefooted in 'Bare Your Soles', an event to raise funds for Habitat For Humanity's building projects internationally as well as raise awareness of the plight of children living in poverty housing.

Committed to investing in the youth, J* sponsored a Brazilian child until he no longer required financial aid, via an international non-profit organization Compassion. And started a community of moms n dads on facebook, to share respectful parenting articles.

J* started BiG Secret Life to share the journey of self-discovery and connect people to their inner selves.

And self published a children's book to bring light and joy to all kids and the inner child within all adults through short sweet stories, especially needed during dark times.

Currently working on pop music as a means of self expression via a digital avatar xoxojstar and a way to connect with others through music, a platform which reaches beyond barriers of words, time, and space.
